Dissertation Description:
Carling Beninger is researching the development of the Anglican, Presbyterian, and United Churches of Canada Indigenous reconciliation polices from 1946-1994. Through examining the Anglican, Presbyterian, and United Churches national newspapers and legislative documents, as well as conducting interviews with those able to comment on the Church and Indigenous policies, she seeks to understand how the Protestant Churches moved from a policy of assimilation to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
